Maternity is the period when a woman carries a child in her womb for a full term of 9 months and begins to feel all the various emotions beginning to flower and develop in her. It is during maternity that motherhood actually blossoms.
When we think of a mother we get the picture of a kind compassionate woman who is ever ready to sacrifice all her comforts and work endlessly at home doing all the house hold chores not expecting any monetary rewards from anyone and in the process taking care of raising her children as well.
Motherhood is associated with pain and sacrifice from the day she conceives. She has to go through all sorts of discomforts and major changes in her life which may be physical and emotional as well as mental. She learns to live with all these adjustments.
In the first three months of pregnancy she has to deal with the discomforts of nausea which appear when she smells or sees food. She is just not able to eat anything as she throws up immediately and this fear of throwing up makes her not to want food. This can be really frustrating.
Then in the next three months she slowly begins to have a large belly and she experiences a lot of discomfort while this process goes on. She finds that she is not able to wear clothes which were once fitting her and that now she has to wear clothes which look huge on her. She also starts to develop stretch marks on her belly as her child grows. She now has to be careful of how she does her things because she is carrying a baby. She has to do the proper exercises so she can have a safe delivery and she also has to make sure that she takes all the right kinds of nutritious food as her baby needs lots of nutrition to be a healthy baby.
She has to be always in the happiest of moods as only when the mother is happy the baby too would be happy. It is a known fact that the emotions of a mother experienced by the mother while she is carrying a child affects the child also .The baby is an extension of the mother. But all this pain and sacrifice that she underwent during her maternity brings forward a beautiful feeling in a woman after the birth of her child and when she finds that her children are happy and healthy.
