Exercise Bike Guide If you want to buy an exercise bike and are confused as to what to look for in an exercise bike so that you make the right choice, then following are some of the guidelines that you would want to follow that may help you to make the right choice while choosing an exercise bike. * Comfort and Adjustability : The first and the foremost of the guideline is that you must purchase an exercise bike only after you confirm it that it will be comfortable for you while riding it and that it should be adjustable. You must not purchase the bike alone depending on the price. It is not like the elliptical trainers and the treadmill on which you have to stand while working out; you have to sit on the bike to exercise for long periods of time. Hence comfort is the most basic thing to be watched. There are basically two types of bikes : 1. Upright Exercise Bikes, and 2. Recumbent Exercise Bikes. You may choose either of them. * Resistance Type and Operation : Exercise bikes provide adjustable resistances. The cheaper models use a tension belt and the mid priced exercise bike use the magnetic resistance. Before purchasing you must be sure that the bike is outfitted with the eddy current magnetic resistance which is the best resistance for smooth and efficient operation. If you want a magnetic resistance bike make sure it has an electronic resistance control. * Heart Rate Monitor : There are three types of heart rate monitors. There is no heart rate monitor for cheap models, pulse grip heart rate control for normal bikes and wireless heart rate monitor for high priced exercise bikes. Wireless heart rate control is the best heart rate monitor and gives accurate reading. There are some high end models whose resistance level is automatically adjusted to meet the ideal heart rate. * Display Console and Built - in Workouts : Display console on exercise bikes vary on the basis of the price of the bikes. It may start from tiny little red LED displays, to full function blacklit LED displays, etc. * Price : The price tag of the exercise bike should be decided on the basis of the features that are included in them. You can find exercise bikes that have all sorts of price tags, but you need not worry, there are many exercise bike sellers who sell cheap and mid - level prices.
