Parenting by itself is a very tough job when it comes to taking care of children. It is highly challenging to even couples who are two in number who take care of children. Then you can imagine the difficulties involved when it comes to single parenting. Single parents have to plan for themselves and their child for the present and also the future. For a child who has two parents to take care of him or her is always secure even in the worst case scenario where the child looses one of its parents incase of death. The child has the other parent to take care of it. But this is not so in the case of single parenting. Single parenting starts off with only a single person whether it may be a father or mother. Surveys conducted have found that there are more children who are now living with single parents than before and this is especially more so in Europe and the United States.
It has been found that in Britain alone there are more number of children living with a single parent. When it comes to single parenting the single parent has to do twice as much financial planning as a couple with children. Childcare is expensive and schooling also is a costly affair and this in turn will eat into the earnings of the parent. To make life easier as a single parent it is best to make a quick checklist so that it helps to plan for your future as well as that of your child?s. Make sure that you are getting enough maintenance from the other parent who does not reside with you. The other parent also has the moral responsibility to support the child.
Make sure to get basic child care support from the other parent and also the correct amount. Always be sure that you are actually receiving all the benefits that you are entitled to claim as a single parent. There are many advice centers which are available for this.
Make sure to et capital award from the court like a lump sum which goes towards maintenance of the child. This could help in providing the child educational benefits till he or she is 18 and able to support themselves. Do make sure as a single parent you are insured and have all your finances fully covered in case something happens to you and your child is left to fend for it self.
