Wellness Tips for Fibromyalgia

Being female, it is estimated that fibromyalgia occurs between 70 percent and 90 percent more often than in men. Disturbed sleep patterns, it is unclear whether sleeping difficulties are a cause or a result of fibromyalgia but people with sleep disorders like sleep apnea or restless leg syndrome have more of a tendency develop the condition. One may be more likely to build up fibromyalgia if a relative has the condition. People with fibromyalgia generally respond well to a comprehensive approach. Aerobic exercise like walking, running and swimming has been shown to reduce the muscle pain associated with fibromyalgia. To be effective exercise should be usual and of moderate intensity. Exercise may increase the pain, but doing it regularly often improves symptoms. One should aim for at least 20 to 30 minutes of exercise four or more times a week. Stretching and relaxation exercises are also helpful. Fatigue is one of the major effects of fibromyalgia. It is therefore necessary to get enough sleep. In addition to allowing sufficient time for sleep, one should develop good sleep habits, like going to bed and getting up at the same time and limiting daytime napping. Develop a plan to evade or limit overexertion and emotional stress.

Other ways:

It is important not to change the routine completely. People who give up work or stop all activity due to discomfort tend to fare worse than those who remain active. Try to keep the level of activity steady. Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Try to exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, limit the caffeine intake, get adequate rest and do something that is enjoyable and fulfilling to relax every day. Consult the doctor about new food-based non-drug supplements formulated to help improve quality of life. The benefits of having a healthy immune system are absolutely essential to well being. Without correct immune function, people quickly become the victims of disease.

Immune system:

1. Wash hand - Many microorganisms are passed through skin contact with dirty individuals or objects. Washing the hands before touching the face can greatly reduce the exposure to harmful microbes in the environment. This lessens the chance of getting sick and of stressing the internal immune system.
2. Eat nutritious foods - Making sure the body receives only wholesome, nutritious foods is essential for best immune function. Immune-boosting foods contain organically grown fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans and other legumes, natural oils like expeller-pressed olive oil, hemp oil, walnut oil, flax oil and coconut butter.
