Fibromyalgia-Treatments Lacking Side Effects

Fibromyalgia is also called as the chronic fatigue syndrome, which is characterized by widespread pain in the bones, joints, and muscles. The patient feels fatigued all the time and develops certain tender points on the body, which become very sensitive to the slightest touch and the pain in these areas is induced instantly. The sleep disturbance is the most reported complaint of the FMS patients. Women are more at the risk of the FMS disease than men and their ratio is 9:1. But men are also prone to this disease. The conventional treatment for this disease is aimed at the reduction of pain and for this the antidepressants and non-steroidal drugs are generally prescribed which help to treat the condition. But it not very clear if the conventional treatment can cure the disease, the treatment also comes with its unwanted side effects which again the patient ahs to fight with. There are many therapies that help to fight the disorder without any side effects, which include natural and herbal ways to combat the disease. The use of Chinese medicines like the acupuncture and acupressure help to heal the condition in a better and harmless way than the conventional way.

The patient:

An FMS patient has to avoid the all sugar and refined carbohydrates like white flour products and starches, the FMS patient should include in his diet magnesium rich foods such as legumes, tofu, seeds, nuts, whole foods, and green leafy vegetables. Those patients who are smokers need additional Nutritional Supplements with the selective vitamin therapy so that maximum results can be achieved.  Having a support group helps a great deal in coping against the FMS disorder and these patient who have support group seems to improve than those who do not seek the support group help. In the alternative treatment for FMS there is also the FMS diet concept, which assumes that the condition is primarily due to a defect in oxidative phosphorylation, which is important for the proper working of the cells. One has to be very selective in the food habits when one has the FMS, the FMS patient should avoid food items that cause allergies.

The use of acupuncture, psychotherapy, behavior modification therapy, chiropractic care, massage and physical therapy, is also very helpful in the treatment of fibromyalgia. These treatments can be combined with each other or they may separately be administered. Thus the use of this side effect lacking treatment helps to heal the FMS condition.
