What to do About Metatasalgia




The pain that can be felt at the ball of the foot is known as metatasalgia. The pain is very severe and acute. The patient gets a feeling as if he is walking on stones. Some patients experience the burning sensation in one or two toes and many have pain throughout the feet. The pain can occur in either one or two feet. The overweight is the most common problem which is responsible for much disease. Extra weight creates more tension on the feet and lead to metatasalgia. If any person wears high heel shoes on the regular basis then he can face the problem of metatasalgia pain. In some cases the shape of the is prone to get the pain. The shape of the foot prone to the pain is high arched and the bones are in the front which creates excessive pressure on the feet. Athletes are more prone to the pain. If the person is affected by the diseases like diabetes and blood pressure then the probability of metatasalgia increases to considerable extend.

Prevention and cure of metatasalgia

Reduce the extra weight of body, avoid wearing high heel shoes. Try to make the ankle stiff after a minor injury or sprain in the leg. Diseases like diabetes and blood pressure should be prevented. Arthritis patients are very prone to metatasalgia pain. Rest is important after long standing and walking period. Comfortable shoes should be preferred even if they cost more. Intake of pain killers is advisable is some cases. Physician should be consulted before undergoing any kind of exercise. The medicines should be taken with the advice of doctor.

Using ice pad on the affected area for three to four times in a day will be of great help to reduce the pain. In some cases the physician can recommend some injections or medicines for the patient to get relieved from the pain. Some form of exercising is also helpful in reducing the pain. If the patient is affected by any other disease then they should be treated. Some belts are also used to reduce the pain.
